JOINT RESOLUTION

Submitting to the legislatures of the several States a proposition to amend the Constitution of the United States.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, (two thirds of both Houses concurring,) That the States of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont are formed into an and shall constitute one State of the United States, to be called North New England; and the States of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, including the Providence Plantations, are formed into and constitute one State of the United States, to be called South New England; and Congress shall pass all laws necessary and proper to give full effect to this amendment of the Constitution.
