Jasper Packard
(February 1, 1832 — December 13, 1899) Packard was a teacher, lawyer, businessman, and politician. Jasper Packard was born in Ohio and moved to Indiana in 1835 with his parents. He graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1855 and was admitted to the bar in 1861. Packard enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War and served as a private, first lieutenant, captain, and lieutenant colonel. After the war, he was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served during the Forty-First, Forty-Second, and Forty-Third Congresses from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1875.
