A Proposition Relative to the Prohibition of Poll Taxes for County or State Road Purposes.

Introduced by Mr. Ellinwood of Cochise County.

It is hereby proposed:

Section 1. The levying of poll taxes for county or State road purposes is grievious and oppressive, and ought to be prohibited; but every person in the State or person holding property therein, ought to contribute his proportion of public taxes for the construction, repair and maintenance of county or State roads according to his actual worth in real or personal property; therefore the Legislative Assembly shall never levy a poll tax for county or State road purposes.
