Letter from Major to Reynolds

Writing Peace: Dermot Nally Collection

1993-11-12

Photocopied letter from Major to Reynolds responding to Reynolds’s letter of 11 November 1993. Major expresses his concern “at the suggestion that there is some kind of emerging rift between our two Governments” and states “we could not proceed on the basis of the Hume/Adams dialogue”. He emphasises that he has been “intensely active” and “the best hope for peace in Northern Ireland lies in our two Governments working together”. Included is a covering note from Ó hUiginn, to Reynolds, explaining some of the language used.
