Richard Dobbs Spaight

(25 March 1758 – 6 September 1802) Army administrator, slave owner and legislator. Staff officer in the militia and Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, he was elected to the Confederation Congress and then the North Carolina House of Commons. He was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention and then a Governor of North Carolina, and member of the US House of Representatives.
