William S. Moore

(November 18, 1822 — December 30, 1877) William Sutton Moore was a businessman, editor, lawyer, and politician. Moore was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania in 1822. He graduated from Washington College (now Washington and Jefferson College) and was admitted to the bar in 1848. In 1857, Moore became involved in the newspaper business, acting as editor and part owner of a newspaper in Pennsylvania. He was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875.
