The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Aaron F. Perry

(January 1, 1815 — March 11, 1893) Aaron Fyfe Perry was an American politician and lawyer. Perry was born in Leicester, Vermont in 1815 and moved to Ohio in 1840. He attended Yale Law School and was admitted to the bar in Connecticut in 1838. After moving to Ohio, Perry was again admitted to the bar in 1840. From 1847 to 1848, he served as a member of the State House of Representatives. In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln appointed Perry as an Associate Justice to the United States Supreme Court, however, Perry declined the appointment. He was later elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1871 until 1872, when he resigned.
