The Civil Rights Act of 1875

Hosea W. Parker

(May 30, 1833 — August 12, 1922) Parker was an American politician and lawyer. Hosea Parker was born in Sullivan County, New Hampshire, but moved to Massachusetts and Vermont to attend school. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1859 and returned to New Hampshire to practice law. Parker’s political career began in 1859 when he became a member of the State House of Representatives and served until 1860. He was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1875. After serving in Congress, Parker resumed his legal practice in New Hampshire and was part of the State constitutional convention in 1918.
