Alexander Mitchell
(October 18, 1817 — April 19, 1887) Mitchell was a politician, businessman, and lawyer. Alexander Mitchell was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and immigrated to the United States in 1839, where he settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was involved in banking and served and President of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad Co. from 1864 to 1887. Mitchell was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives and served during the Forty-Second and Forty-Third Congresses from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1875.
