Elliott M. Braxton
(October 8, 1823 — October 2, 1891) Elliott Muse Braxton was an American politician and lawyer. Braxton was born in Mathews, Virginia in 1823. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1849. Braxton was a member of the State Senate from 1852 to 1856, before moving to Fredericksburg, Georgia and practicing law. During the Civil War, he served in the Confederate Army as a captain and major. He was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1873.
