James C. McGrew

(September 14, 1813 — September 18, 1910) McGrew was a businessman and politician. James McGrew was born in Monongalia County, Virginia (now in West Virginia) and stayed in West Virginia for the majority of his life. His political career began when he served as a delegate to the Virginia secession convention in 1861, where he voted against secession. He later served as Mayor of Kingwood, Virginia from 1863 to 1865, while also serving as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates. McGrew was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives, and served in Congress from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1873.
