The Civil Rights Act of 1875

William A. Buckingham

(Mary 28, 1804 — February 5, 1875) Buckingham was a businessman and public servant. William Buckingham was born in Lebanon, Connecticut. He served in many capacities, in both the public and private spheres, including mayor of Norwich, Connecticut, and Governor of Connecticut. He was elected as a Republican to the Forty-First, Forty-Second, and Forty-Third Congresses. He died while serving in the United States Senate in February 1875.
