Henry Sherwood

(October 9, 1813 — November 10, 1896) Henry Sherwood was a businessman, politician, and lawyer. Sherwood was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1813 and moved to New York in 1817 with his parents. After serving in the Texas Army during the Texas war for independence, Sherwood moved to Pennsylvania where he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1847. He was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1873. After serving in Congress, Sherwood became president of the Wellsboro and Lawrenceville Railroad and the Pine Creek Road division of Pennsylvania.
