Samuel N. Bell

(March 25, 1829 — February 8, 1889) Bell was a businessman, lawyer, and politician. Samuel Bell was born in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, and moved to Massachusetts to attend Phillips Academy. He returned to New Hampshire to attend Dartmouth College, where he graduated and studied law. Bell was admitted to the bar in 1849 and practiced law in Belknap County, New Hampshire until he was elected to Congress in 1870. He was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1873, and again from March 4, 1875 to March 3, 1877.
