An Act

To secure freedom to all persons within the Territories of the United States.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That from and aft[+e711655]slavery or involuntary servitude, in all cases whatsoev[-e711655]er,[-e711655] (o[-e711655]the passage[+e711655]r that in the punishment[-e711655] of this act[+e711655]crime, whereof[-e711655] there[+e711655] party[-e711655] shall have [-e711655]be neither slavery nor involuntary servitude[+e711655]en duly convicted) shall henceforth cease, and be prohibited forever[-e711655] in any of[+e711655]ll[-e711655] the Territories of the United States,[-e711655] now existing, or which may at any time [+e711655]hereafter to [-e711655]be formed or acquired by the Un[+e711655]ited States, otherwise tha[+e711655]n in punishment of crimes whereof the party shall have been duly convicted[+e711655]any way[-e711655].
