The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(February 28, 1842 — March 20, 1916) Dorsey was a public servant and businessman. Stephen Dorsey was born in Rutland County, Vermont. Prior to the Civil War, Dorsey moved to Ohio where he served as President of the Sandusky Tool Company. During the Civil War, he enlisted in the Union Army, and relocated to Arkansas. He served on many committees including the Committee on the District of Columbia and the Republican National Committee. He was elected as a Republican to the Forty-Third Congress, and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1879.
