U.S. Constitutional Convention 1787 (2021 Edition)

(26 March 1749 – 21 March 1800) Land speculator, planter, slave owner, and state governor. During the Revolutionary War he was a paymaster in the militia and Continental Army. He was a North Carolina delegate to the Confederation Congress and then the Constitutional Convention. Afterwards he became Governor of the Southwest Territory and then US Senator for Tennessee. Conspiring with the British to help them seize Louisiana, he left Congress in disgrace after being exposed. Despite this he became Speaker of the Tennessee Senate.
