The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(1816 — September 10, 1881) Scudder was a lawyer, businessman, and politician. Isaac Williamson Scudder was born in Elizabethtown, New Jersey (now Elizabeth). He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1838. Scudder served as a prosecutor of the pleas of Hudson County, a member fo the first police commission of Jersey City, and as the elected director and counsel of the New Jersey Railroad and Transportation Company. He was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875.
