Phineas W. Hitchcock

The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(November 30, 1831 — July 10, 1881) Hitchcock was an American politician and lawyer. Phones Hitchcock was born in Columbia County, New York and moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1857, where he was admitted to the bar and practiced law. Hitchcock was elected as delegate of the Territory to the Thirty-Ninth Congress and served as such from March 4, 1865 to March 1, 1867, when Nebraska was admitted statehood. He was further elected as a Republican to the Senate and served from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1877.
