United States Fifteenth Amendment

"(December 25, 1810 -- April 26, 1878) William Moore was a(n) merchant, iron worker, builder of ships, judge, public servant, and American politician. He was born in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and moved to New Jersey in 1845. William served as judge of the court of common pleas for Atlantic County (1855- 1865), was one of the founders of the Republican Party, delegate to the Republican Convention (1856), and served in the state senate (1872 - 1875). Moore was elected as a Republican to the 40th and 41st Congresses (March 4, 1867 - March 3, 1871) and was not elected in 1870. During his time on Congress, he served as chairman on the Committee on Expenditures in the Post Office Department (41st Congress).
