Motion on Health Care

That the Forum deplores the absence of an elected representative at any level of health care administration in Northern Ireland and condemns the absence of meaningful consultation by the DHSS and by the health boards; is deeply concerned by the current proposals to further centralize acute hospital services; believes that community care services are inadequate in both urban and rural areas, especially in respect of (a) the elderly and (b) those being discharged from hospital after surgery at an increasingly early stage; asserts that access to health care is being unreasonably reduced for members of the urban and rural communities; and resolves to appoint a Committee of the Forum to produce a report on the health needs of the community for consideration by the Minister.
