James Humphrey

"(October 9, 1811 -- June 16, 1866) James Humphrey was a lawyer and American politician. Humphrey was born in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut and moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1838. Humphrey was elected as a Republican to the 36th and 39th Congresses (March 4, 1859 - March 3, 1861 and March 4, 1865 to his death, June 16, 1866), where he served as chairman on the Committee on Expenditures in the Department of the Navy (39th Congress). He was not a successful candidate for reelection in the 37th and 38th Congresses.
