The Road to Civil War

John Law

(28 October, 1796 -- 7 October, 1873) Law was an American lawyer, author, Judge and politician. Born in New London, Conn., Law was admitted to the bar in 1817 and began practice in Vincennes, Indiana. Law was a member of the State house of representatives in 1824 and 1825 and judge of the seventh judicial circuit in 1830 and 1831. Law was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-seventh and Thirty-eighth Congresses.
