Henry H. Van Aernam

"(March 11, 1819 -- June 1, 1894) Henry Van Aernam was a doctor, surgeon in the army, commissioner, and American politician. Van Aernam was born in Marcellus, Onondaga County, New York. He was a member of the State assembly in 1858 and served in the Union Army as a surgeon in the 154th regiment New York Volunteer Infantry (September 26, 1862 - November 5, 1864). He was appointed as Commissioner of Pensions from May 1, 1869 until May 31, 1871. He was elected as a Republican to the 39th, 40th, 46th, and 47th Congresses (March 4, 1865 - March 3, 1869 and March 4, 1879 - March 3, 1883).
