Edmund Randolph

(10 August 1753 – 12 September 1813) Lawyer, slave owner, state governor and US Secretary of State. Elected to the Virginia Convention and then the Continental Congress he also maintained an important law practice. During the Revolutionary War he acted as an aide-de-camp for Washington. After the war he became Governor of Virginia and was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, where he introduced the Virginia Plan. Refused to sign the final document but changed his mind to support ratification. Later US Attorney General and Secretary of State.
