U.S. Constitutional Convention 1787 (2021 Edition)

Jonathan Dayton

(16 October 1760 – 9 October 1824) Officer in the Continental Army, lawyer and merchant. Served as captain and aide-de-camp to John Sullivan during the Revolutionary War. He later entered the New Jersey Assembly, and when his father declined to attend the Constitutional Convention he went in his place. He was elected to the US House of Representatives, where he was Speaker, and then to the Senate.
