Paine Wingate

(14 May 1739 – 7 March 1838) Preacher, farmer, delegate to the Continental Congress and both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Wingate served as a member to the New Hampshire House of Representatives, the New Hampshire state constitutional convention, and the Continental Congress. He advocated for ratification of the federal Constitution. Appointed to the First U.S. Senate, he served for two terms before his election to the House of Representatives. After serving on the national legislature, Wingate became an associate judge of the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
