(3 May, 1798 -- 29 August, 1886) Spalding was an American lawyer and politician. Born in West Tisbury, Mass., Spalding studied law and was admitted to the bar. In 1821, Spalding moved to Ohio. Spalding was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-eighth, Thirty-ninth, and Fortieth Congresses.
