(6 January, 1811 -- 25 March, 1864) Lovejoy was an American scholar, pastor, and politician. Born in Albion, Maine, Lovejoy moved to Illinois in 1836. Lovejoy was a member of the State house of representatives from 1839-1856. Lovejoy was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-fifth, Thirty-sixth, Thirty-seventh, and Thirty-eighth Congresses, serving until his death in 1864.
