(1908-1993)

Political Party/Association: All-India Anglo Indian Association

Biography: Frank Anthony was born on 25 September 1908 in Jabalpur in present-day Madhya Pradesh. He studied law at Nagpur law college and was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple Inn. Upon returning to India, Anthony practiced law in the Central Provinces and began engaging in public service, including serving as a member of the Jabalpur Municipality.

An influential member of the Anglo-Indian community, Frank Anthony became the President-in-Chief of the All India Anglo-Indian Association in 1942. He played a crucial part in shaping Anglo-Indian education, serving as Chairman of the Inter-State Board for Anglo-Indian Education—established in 1935 to standardise and coordinate educational efforts for European, Eurasian, and Anglo-Indian schools in India. His political contributions included representing the Central Provinces and Berar in the Constituent Assembly, where he actively participated in debates on the national language and minority rights. His statesmanship also saw him serve on several national committees, including the National Defence Council and the Sapru Conciliation Committee.

Beyond his political and educational leadership, Anthony founded the All India Anglo-Indian Educational Trust, which oversees five Frank Anthony Public Schools. His public service extended into independent India, where he served as a nominated member of the Lok Sabha for seven terms between 1950 and 1992.
