Samuel J. Randall

United States Thirteenth Amendment 1863-65

(10 October, 1828 -- 13 April, 1890) Randall was an American politician, soldier, and businessman. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Randall served in various local positions like as a member of the common council of Philadelphia (1852-1855) and as a member of the State senate (1858 and 1859). Randall was a captain in the Union Army and was later promoted to provost marshal at Gettysburg. Randall was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-eighth and to the thirteen succeeding Congresses.
